Alison Porter is a Research Officer and Deputy Director of AWARD’s Mid and West Wales office at Swansea University. She is primarily a qualitative researcher, with a research background and interests including health inequalities, disability, older people, and the interface between health and social care. She has a particular interest in the way in which organisations interact with the people who use them, through the processes of consultation, participation and communication. In addition to her academic background, she has experience of both local government and the voluntary sector from the inside, through her work in social care and in community development.

1993 Membership of the Chartered Institute of Transport
1999 PhD University of Wales, Swansea: ‘Compromise and Constraint: disabled people’s experience of travel in Swansea, UK’
