I joined the Mid and West section of the AWARD team as a Research Officer in January 2005 and am based in Swansea. My research interests lie in emergency/immediate care, telephone advice and access to healthcare. Before joining AWARD, I was the Researcher on the NHS Direct Wales Evaluation Project, a 3 year study funded by Swansea NHS Trust on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government. I have also been involved in the Emergency/Immediate Care Scoping Study for WAG. Recently I enrolled in a part-time PhD looking at access to telephone advice by disadvantaged groups. This includes both a quantitative component, looking at patterns of usage to NHS Direct Wales by different community groups, and a qualitative component, looking at facilitators and barriers to access.
