Samia Addis - Research Associate

I joined AWARD South East in February 2005 as a Research Associate based at Cardiff Institute of Society, Health and Ethics. Prior to this I taught Sociology for many years with a focus on health and particularly diet, developing an interest in poverty, dietary choices and health. I developed the theme of dietary choice during my Masters when, for my dissertation, I studied children’s uptake of the fruit and vegetables provided within school meals.

Current projects
I have recently contributed to a series of systematic reviews on the social determinants of health, focussing on the topics of cancer, child health and older people. I am about to begin a project which will evaluate advice issued by the Welsh Assembly Government on healthy lunchboxes.
