I joined AWARD in South East Wales in May 2007 as a Research Fellow based at the Cardiff Institute of Society, Health and Ethics. My main research interests are in the field of alcohol and drug misuse, particularly in relation to young people. A key focus of this work is the evaluation of prevention interventions, including those which involve parents and schools.
Current work in this area includes a qualitative evaluation of the Strengthening Families 10-14 programme (SFP) in Cardiff, and a study exploring the early implementation of the Kids, Adults, Together Family Forum (KATFF) programme (an intervention being led by Gwent Police). I am interested in the experiences of young people and parents/caregivers who take part in alcohol misuse prevention programmes, and the process of programme implementation, including the role of multi-agency working.
Ongoing work also includes an evaluation of the Cooking Bus in Wales, and a systematic review on vascular risk and primary care.
Other research interests are mental health, evidence-based practice and research capacity building.
I am happy to be contacted through the medium of Welsh or English.
